A Magazine for
Curious Travellers

Why Travessimo Exists

Travel writing had become a formula. Every restaurant a hidden gem. Every beach undiscovered. Every city a must-visit. The language had collapsed under the weight of repetition, and the writing behind it had too.

We cover Italy, France, Spain and Greece — four countries with distinct cultures, distinct problems, and far more to say than a listicle can contain. We write for anyone from a budget backpacker to someone staying in a converted monastery. The money spent doesn't determine how curious you are.

Travessimo exists for travellers who want to understand where they are, not just document that they were there. Who read on trains. Who ask the hotel concierge what she eats for lunch. Who want to know what something costs, which season to go, and whether it's actually worth it.

The site is new. The knowledge behind it isn't. We've been travelling these countries for years — going back to cities we thought we understood, finding out we were wrong, and slowly working out what's actually worth saying.

What We
Believe In

01

Depth Over Volume

We publish fewer pieces than most travel sites and take longer to write them. A curated itinerary for a single neighbourhood matters more than a listicle of fifty cities. Every guide is the product of real travel planning, personal visits, and careful research — not aggregated content.

02

Slow Travel

We believe in spending more time in fewer places. Whether that means a week in a Provençal village, a month living as a digital nomad in Rome, or a series of city breaks through Spain and Greece, our guides are written for travellers who want to understand where they are — not just document that they were there.

03

Local Knowledge First

Every destination guide is built around local knowledge. We seek out the neighbourhood trattorias, the independent bookshops, the wine bars that close early because the owner has somewhere better to be. Our guides reflect what people who actually live there recommend — not what tourism boards approve.

04

Intentional Travel

Budget travel and luxury travel share one thing: intentionality. Whether you're planning a weekend city break on a tight budget or a slow journey through rural Italy, the quality of an experience comes from choosing deliberately. We write for travellers who plan with care and travel with curiosity.

How We
Travel

Travel Style

Travessimo covers a range of travel styles — from slow travel through rural Italy and Provence to city breaks in Barcelona or Athens. We write for anyone drawn to the question of what it means to actually live somewhere, even for a few weeks — whether that's a hostel or a converted monastery.

Our guides cover weekend escapes, two-week itineraries, road trips, and remote village stays. What unites them is intentionality: travel planned carefully and executed slowly.

Geographic Focus

Our primary coverage spans Italy, France, Spain and Greece — four countries with distinct cultures, cuisines, and landscapes. Within those, we concentrate on both iconic cities and overlooked regions: the hill towns of Umbria, the Basque Country, the Peloponnese.

We believe the most rewarding destinations are rarely the ones with the longest queues. Our editorial focus is on places that reward the curious traveller who arrives prepared.

Planning Methodology

Every guide begins with personal travel. We visit the places we write about, eat in the restaurants we recommend, and walk the neighbourhoods we describe. Research is layered on top of experience — not substituted for it. The site launched recently. The travel didn't.

Our curated itineraries are built around realistic pacing, genuine local knowledge, and the kind of detail you only get from being there. We write for travellers who do their own travel planning and want a trustworthy foundation to build on.
